What a happy day Saturday was. Our Made of Paper pop-up was transformed into a brightly coloured hive of activity with local papercutting artist Eileen White showing us novices how it's done. And if the satisfied smiles were anything to go by, we think it's safe to assume there are some very lovely paper creations hanging proudly at home right now.
A big thank you goes to James Brown who made a special trip to see us last week to unveil our Hambledon exclusive Winchester print and answer a few questions about his work. As we're sure all of those who came along will vouch, it was thoroughly lovely and interesting gathering and James is possibly the nicest printmaker on the planet.
Roll Up Roll Up. It?s Fairground time for the Summer here at The Hambledon. The Pop Up Shop has gone funfair tastic. But no tricky games of hoopla required to bag yourself a cuddly toy. Our stall is full of toys, sweeties, stuff and nonsense and all available for an easy exchange of cash!
This month our pop up has popped up all domestic science. It?s part nostalgia, part practical, a little bit cricket teas and a whole lot Marguerite Patten. We'll be selling everything you need to bake, preserve and hostess to your heart?s content; books, china, cookware, cakestands and cutters. And if you can?t quite be bothered to get out the jam thermometer and the baking powder yourself, we?ve requisitioned supplies from the lovely ladies at Winchester Country Market (www.winchestercountrymarket.co.uk, Badger Farm Community Centre, Fridays 8.30-11am). The lightest Victoria sponges and the jammiest raspberry jams will be here until 29 June.
You could make a trip to Homebase for dreary gardening gloves and a Flymo or you could make a trip to The Hambledon. For the next 4 weeks our pop-up shop has popped up all horticultural. We?re selling vintage garden paraphernalia (think wire benches, metal etageres, painted bistro tables, zinc buckets) with permanent botanicals, organic seeds from the lovely Thomas Etty Esq, practical wooden tools and gardening books and not a hover mower in sight.
The Christmas countdown starts here at The Hambledon. Our festive pop-up shop is now open and brimming with baubles, bows, cards, crackers, and a bumper selection of stocking fillers. If you're yet to find that Christmas spirit, this corner of the shop has it in santa size sack load.
Our freshly painted and decorated pop-up shop has taken on a distinctly dated feel just now - but in nothing but a good way. Yes open for two weeks only we're hosting a special vintage pop-up in collaboration with Old Albion - the company responsible for sourcing and supplying us with interesting finds from days gone by. You may have spotted the odd piece around the store recently and now we have a whole corner dedicated to curious trinkets and treasures.
More exciting times here at The Hambledon. Our super talented new visual merchandiser Laura has just unveiled her first installation and it really is rather special. Head to our new men's denim pop-up shop and you'll find a wall of brightly coloured placards advocating our superb men's denim ranges - Edwin, A.P.C and Nudie - and other such words of wisdom. Inspired by the 1968 french students revolt, the message is fight for fit, fly your fly and sois jeune et tais toi, be young and shut up!
