A match made in heaven

Facebook Twitter Pintrest

Jeans and shirts have always been good friends. It's a dynamic that MiH, a brand steeped in denim history, have been exploring for many seasons now. And we've been watching with interest, as their offering of beautiful shirting has developed from something complementary into something quite central to what they do.

Now, with main SS13, we think the unison is complete with a wonderfully full and varied collection holding its own alongside the denim. Shirts oversized, high collared, short sleeved, swing, and circle, solid pistachio and strawberry, melting into lemony stripes and giving way to fluro pink and green polka dots. We challenge you not to find your match.

spring weight soles

We've just taken a hefty delivery from basement favourite - Red Wing. Here we have Rob's number one choice of boot for spring, the Chukka. While we'll forever be faithful to the iconic 875 workboot, with milder climes on the horizon, the Chukka makes for a great lightweight allrounder. Featuring the signature white crepe sole, premium leather and Goodyear welt construction, it's made of sturdy stuff just minus some of the stomp factor of its bigger, chunkier cousin.

Attention grabbing classic

Facebook Twitter Pintrest

There are certain things we've come to expect from Goat knitwear; luxury yarns, impeccable quality, beautiful statement buttons; classic wardrobe staples so understated and so reliable we've become accustomed to just letting them have their place and do their thing, season in, season out. But suddenly, with their SS13 offering, we find them clamouring for our attention with a pallette of notice-me colours, bold patterns and great new shapes. We are loving the Onassis button back jumper and that cobalt blue is crying out for a place at the forefront of our spring summer wardrobes.

signature stuff

Oliver Spencer kicks off the new season down in menswear with the signature stuff we love; classic wardobe staples bought to life with subtle detailing. The lightweight Farringdon mac is back in desert sand, featuring a great pop of colour under the collar. The navy cotton / linen single breasted blazer no wardrobe can do without also reappears. Further along the rail we see blocks of colour give way to some great striped t-shirts, playful shirting and lightweight textured knits, all working some variation on the seasonal pallette of red, white and blue. Another solid collection from an old time favourite.

Buying Berlin

Facebook Twitter Pintrest

Rob continued his adventures in Europe last week with a stop off in a -6°c Berlin. Of course the Germans have no problem with snow so it was business as usual. And inbetween explorations of The Bauhaus Museum and currywhurst consumption, some seriously efficient buying got done. The haul included amazing vintage loopwheel jersey products from Germany, New Balance trainers in lots of new flavours and styles, leather goods from Portland Oregon, made to last a lifetime, plus some exciting new product from our friends at Redwing boots. Our latest collaboration with Trickers was also nailed down to top off the promise of exciting things to come.

Best foot forward into Spring

Facebook Twitter Pintrest

We love Hudson for their 'foot forward' approach. Acknowledging trends while giving them their own idiosyncratic twist. This season we have good evidence of that philosophy in action.

Starting with the brilliant Mirar ankle boot - a classic shape, tweaked on the upper and finished in snakeskin. They look great with just about anything, provide a bit of height yet are so comfortable they can be worn all day long. Lucy has finally found her perfect work boot - hurray!

Bolero follows, working the questionable slipper trend. Cast assumptions aside and what you actually find is a perfectly versatile little summer shoe; an ultra feminine silhouette finished in snakeskin or a colourful print for a good measure of Hudson character.

Finally, taking statements one step further is Charlie, a sturdy two-tone lace up brogue. Classic but in no way unoriginal.

Over the moon

Facebook Twitter Pintrest

Prepare to be excited. This was the big find of Victoria and Lucy's trip to Gallery in Cophenhagen last year and it's like nothing womenswear has ever seen before. A bit out of this world even. But in a really good way. Centrepieces include the sparkly and structural 'Moon Walker' A-line skirt, silver bomber jacket and flouro blazer. A collection inspired by the moonlandings it might be, but no we're not on another planet. Pulled together with floaty silk tops and delicate knits, all pretty peachy pink, it really is sublimely beautiful and wearable.

Here comes colour

Say hello to 0039 Italy and say hello to colour. A welcome additon to the shopfloor in the middle of January, and one that sets the theme for the season ahead. Here we have a great little collection of shirts, tunics and jumpers, and a label growing in confidence; embracing a stronger pallette, turning out a great printed silk and throwing caution to the wind with our favourite fluoro pink.
