In 1936 Martin Magnusson and his family settled in the timber forests in the Swedish province of Smaland. He began making gloves for local lumberjacks. In 1937 a ski slope was created nearby and Magnusson, a natural pragmatist, began making gloves for local skiers. The company is still run by the third generation of the same family and is still making gloves. Hestra now make performance gloves for the Swedish ski team, elite mountaineers, competitive kayakers, hard core survival experts and the construction industry. At The Hambledon we're concentrating on more gentle pursuits. Check out the lovely leather Kate, in all manner of pretty colours, with the pique stitching; her elegant friend Elizabeth minus the stitching but in equally luscious colours; and the lovely suede Helen.
